Grand Valley Fire Responded to Fire Along I-70, June 17, 2014, 10:08 PM

Fire Update from Grand Valley Fire Protection District

 
Parachute, CO - On June 17, 2014 at 10:08 p.m. Grand Valley Fire Protection District responded to the Hwy 6 Spot Fire on the Southside of I-70 at MM72. The fire grew to 5.6 acres as crews from Grand Valley Fire Protection District, Colorado River Fire Rescue, Debeque Fire Protection District and BLM/USFS Interagency worked to extinguish it. There was 30 firefighters on scene. The fire was burning between the Colorado River and I-70. No structures were lost during the fire.  The railroad and Highway 6 had to be closed for about four hours. The crews are continuing to mop up hot spots in the area and will monitor the fire for the next couple of days.
