Battlement Mesa Medical Center, located in City Market Plaza, is a clinic staffed with full-time family medicine providers five days a week, consulting speciality physicians. and a physical therapist three days a week. According to information provided by Kris Daler, Director of Public Relations at Grand River Medical Center, the clinic is part of the Grand River Hospital District which also includes Grand River Medical Center in Rifle which opened in 2003 replacing the older Clagett Memorial Hospital which had been built in 1962.
The new, larger facility in Rifle includes a Level 4 Trauma Center which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is always staffed by an emergency physician. A helicopter can land immediately outside the ambulance entrance if Care Flight to another facility is needed. Both semi-private and private patient rooms are equipped with a restroom, bathing facilities, and a locking cabinet for personal items. Two observation rooms are available for visitors as well as the Sun Room with its historic stained glass windows in the Acute Care Unit.
Grand River Medical Center’s radiology department provides high quality diagnostic imaging including CT Scan, ultrasound, mammography, x-ray, bone-density scan, and MRI. Two large operating rooms were built for orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, cataract surgery, urology, etc.
