Air Transportation

Commercial Air Services

Residents of and visitors to Battlement Mesa, Colorado have three choices for air travel: Aspen-Pitkin County/Sardy Field (KASE), Eagle County Regional (KEGE) and Grand Junction Regional (KGJT).  All three are Class D, mountain airports offering good ground transportation services.

Aspen-Pitkin County/Sardy Field, Aspen, Colorado is about 1:15 minute drive from Battlement Mesa and is the most distant and is located in a narrow mountain valley at 7,820 ft. elevation.  Although Aspen offers numerous non-stop flights to Denver, especially during the ski season, via either United or Frontier, sometimes "Mother Nature" wins out over your travel plans and flights are diverted.  Nevertheless, how cool is it to say, "I flew out of Aspen?" Eagle County Regional Airport, Eagle, Colorado is an easy one hour, all interstate (I-70) drive from Battlement Mesa. The Eagle Airport is located in a broad valley at 6,548 ft. elevation.  The lower elevation and broad valley substantially reduces your risk of being diverted due to weather conditions. During the ski season, Eagle offers non-stop flights to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York-Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark.  Since anyone in route to Vail, Colorado by air must fly into the Eagle Regional Airport, you might fly in or out with someone that's famous.  More Information: http://www.eaglecounty.us/airport/

Grand Junction Regional Airport, Grand Junction, Colorado is a 45 minute, all interstate (I-70) drive from Battlement Mesa.  At 4,858 ft. elevation, Grand Junction is the lowest elevation of the three airports and offers direct flights to Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Dallas and Houston and it is the least likely to have weather conditions that would divert your flight.  Additionally, Grand Junction offers the largest selection of ground services.  More Information: http://www.gjairport.com/
