Battlement Mesa Bicycle Group
The Battlement Mesa Bicycle Group (BMBG) is a group of adult recreational/social bicycle enthusiasts. During the cycling season (April through October), a weekly morning ride of about 45 minutes takes place in the Battlement Mesa community, on existing bike trails and roads (paved and unpaved). During the summer, on an approximate biweekly basis, an organized ride is done outside of Battlement Mesa. Some of the rides have included Soda Plant Road (CR215) from Parachute to the En Cana Drilling fields; Glenwood Canyon; Various segments of the Rio Grand Trail; and the Redlands Loop in Grand Junction.
The BMBG also has clinics from time to time, on subjects of interest, such as "Beginners Clinic" and "Safety Clinic."
Some BMBG members have volunteered to assist with biking-related activities in the community, such as the "Library Trail", the "Sheriff's Auxiliary Kids Bike Derby" and the "Lower Valley Trails Project."

Grand Valley Hikers
The Grand Valley Hikers is an informal group of adults primarily from the Battlement Mesa/Parachute area that enjoys good fellowship and the many outdoors attractions that this area has to offer on a year-round basis.
During warmer weather, April through November, the group hikes each Thursday with hikes selected from the abundance of hiking trails in the region. In the cooler spring and fall the hikes are generally in the desert and canyon-land areas to the west and during the hot summer months in the higher elevations to the east.
Three camping (some folks motel) trips are planned during this period to scenic areas in this part of the country. Typical previous excursions include Moab, UT, Leadville, CO and Capitol Reef National Park, UT.
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing is enjoyed each Thursday on nearby Grand Mesa during the winter months. Typically the group meets at 8:15 a.m. in the 3rd level of the Battlement Mesa Activity Center parking for car pooling and 8:30 departure. In the winter departure is 9:00 a.m.
A year-end dinner highlights the transition from summer hiking to winter activities.
