Battlement Mesa is an unincorporated, covenant controlled, community located in western Garfield County. The governing body for the community is the Battlement Mesa Service Association (BMSA). The community is made up of residential villages. Each village has an elected delegate that serves on the BMSA Board of Directors. In addition there are two delegates representing the Battlement Mesa Company, which is the developer. The developer represents the developing villages and rental areas. BMSA has three elected officers, President, Vice President, and Secretary Treasurer plus an Association Manager. The BMSA meets monthly and residents are encouraged to attend. BMSA also has nine working committees that deal with community maintenance and improvement:

Garfield County
The county seat for Garfield County is in Glenwood Springs Colorado. The county consists of 2,958 square miles of land. Its industrial base is tourism, natural gas production, coal mining, and agriculture. The administration of Garfield county business is by a county manager form of government. Garfield County is governed by three elected commissioners plus several other elected officials.
